Sydney, Australia, - Hordern Pavillion - August 14th, 99

* review by Danika *

Me and my friend left my house at 4:30pm then we caught a bus to Randwick and then we caught
another bus to the Hourdern Pavilion we got there at about 5:30pm so we waited in the
pouring rain til 7:30pm when the gates were opened we where searched then we made our way
to the front of the stage where their were already about 50 screaming girls. We decided to
find our friends, by the time we found them, Pre_Shrunk had started & it was now 7:45pm.
Pre_Shrunk played for about 45 minutes and then Placebo came on at about 8:45pm. Me and my
friends decided to go in the mosh which was pretty jumpy. When Placebo finished it got really
ruff my friends went to find some seats 'cause they were there for Placebo not "the chair."
So me and my friend Emma went to the side of the stage where we saw these guys backstage
and all these girls were asking them have they met the chair and stuff and then me and my
friend saw a DJ from the local radio station we said "hi" then we saw all silverchair's
roadies getting the stage ready, silverchair were walking up a ramp to get on stage and
Daniel was mumbling "i can do this, i can do this" and then they broke into Emotion Sickness.
Then Israel's Son, Slave, Abuse Me, Madman, Paint Pastel Princess, Point of View, Pure
Massacre, Freak and after Freak Daniel did his "Hallelujah" thing, then he got people up
on stage for "Anthem for the Year 2000" that took about 5 minutes. All the people onstage
had T-shirts saying "WE ARE THE YOUTH," then the song started & he repeated
"WE ARE THE YOUTH" about 10 times then started singing the song, silverchair then went
off stage. When they came back on, Daniel said something about not fucking writing this
song and we like it that song was "Kick Out The Jams" after that they went off.
